Iggy Pop and The Stooges

Joe and I left Vincetown, NJ and went to Atlantic City, NJ. We ate some wings at the famous Pic-A-Lilly's. Then we gambled at the Taj Mahal and then went to the Show Boat to see Iggy Pop and The Stooges at the House of Blues.

IGGY!!!!!!!

He let a bunch of people get on stage for a dance party.... for the song Shake Appeal. Joe and I didn't make it up there though.

A picture of some one else taking a picture of Iggy?

Guess who was playing bass for them..... only Mike Watt. And he had a broken leg, he had to use a crutch to hobble on and off stage.

Vincetown, NJ and The Robisons

We left DC and arrived in Vincetown, NJ where Pat's family lives. Mary and Ryan kindly gave us shelter. We went to the winery with Mary, so much fun. She showed us all the must see sights and bought us apple cider doughnuts that were amazing when heated up. We went to eat Chinese food with Chris and MaeMae, saw Domi and Niko and met Aunt Mim and Alberta, who by the way has a great garden where we got to pick the best Jersey tomatoes (vine ripe) and got a delicious jar of Mim's famous salsa. I left my camera in the car so I only took one photo.

Having Jersey Fun.

Washington DC

Leaving Delaware we went back south to DC. We walked around for two days... went to a lot of museums and did the whole "tourist" thing. The Holocaust Museum was intense but so amazing. The art museums had many famous artist's work.

The Washington Monument.

Joe's impression of the the Washington Monument.

Donnie Darko rabbit.

Liechtenstein's House. This was the craziest thing... It looks 3D but it is just a flat piece of board that he painted to fool your eye when you look at it from any angle.

Andy Warhol.

Edvard Munch.

Van Gogh.

Allen Ginsberg's self portrait.

Delaware

We left Asheville, NC and drove for 10 hours to Newark, DE where Alex lives. We hung out in Delaware for four days... played cards, cooked tacos and went to some local bars.. oh and watched that movie Sling Blade for the first time. We took a side trip to Philadelphia, PA (which its NOT always sunny in Philadelphia) it rained the entire time we were there and we didn't get any photos but it is a nice city. Joe and Alex went to the FDR skate park but it was flooded so they couldn't really skate.

North Carolina

Our first stop in North Carolina was Asheville. We got in around 8:30 pm and had to wait on Joe's friend Ed to get off work so we just went to this little dive bar called Fred's Speakeasy. I think it turned into a karaoke bar later but we didn't stick around to see that. When Ed got off we back to his house and he and Joe exchanged music.

The next day we headed to the Smoky Mountain National Park and got on the Blue Ridge Parkway. We drove on it for about two hours, we made it to the highest elevation of 6,000 ft. on the top of a mountain. Once we got to the Pisgah National Forest we camped. The next day we went to all the tourist spots... Sliding Rock and Looking Glass Falls. But we found this local treasure, Whaleback. It is a swimming hole in the middle of the woods that is so amazing. We hung out there for about 3 hours eating watermelon and camped again.

They even had Genesee at Fred's for $1 each. It brought back fun memories.

There were so many butterflies at Whaleback. This is a little group of them drinking water from a slue.

Georgia Bulldogs

We walked around downtown Athens for a little longer and then drove to the middle of no where.... to the Broad River. Then we drove into the mountains to go to these potter's studios. Mark of the Potter was the most impressive. Plus they had a kitten that I instantly made friends with.

Making friends with the local mascots.

Chicken Farms. On the way out to Broad River we passed so many little towns that were mostly chicken farms. I wanted to go inside and see them but I doubt the farmers would have let me.

Georgia Peaches

Joe and I left Palatka, FL and headed to Athens, GA. We stayed with some really cool couch surfers that lived downtown in a old plantation home. We ate dinner at a cheap pizzaria that had great food and we also ate lunch at a soul food restaurant that was super good, called Five Star Day Cafe.

Entering Georgia... what more can you say.

Rebecca and Matt, our couch surfers.

Our dinner the night we stayed in Athens was at Italy Pizza. We got 2 slices and a pitcher for $8.

Joe found some "neckface" art in the men's restroom at Italy's Pizza.
